Proudly overlooking beautiful Clifton Green at the heart of Clifton village, York, Hotel Noir’s traditional three-storey Victorian façade boasts bay windows with original wooden sashes and many period features.
Being situated close to enchanting, central York, Hotel Noir is steeped in history – as befitting accommodation in the beautiful old town. Once a row of grand residential terraces, the Hotel Noir property was later converted into the village’s Co-op shop, before becoming a traditional English hotel. Until recently known as Cottage Hotel, York, Hotel Noir was launched in July 2008 to breathe sympathetic new life into the old building.
A sophisticated scheme of careful modernisation is gradually seeing the transformation become complete. Presently housing 28 en-suite bedrooms, Hotel Noir’s stylish and sympathetic restoration has already remodeled 22 of the rooms with stunning black and white decor. The remaining hotel rooms provide comfortable cottage-style accommodation complete with modern conveniences at your fingertips. Unfortunately, we cannot reserve a particular style of room for your stay at Hotel Noir.
Clifton village is a historic suburb of York, which is now a conservation area. The village school St Peter's is reputed to date from the seventh century, and was originally the school attached to York Minster.
Hotel Noir, York nevertheless manages to mix its period charm and historic setting with a lively sense of modernity. Being so close to central York and its many attractions, Hotel Noir’s fine location is an ideal base for you to plan a trip to suit your mood.
